Proposed Hello Kitty Theme Park in China

Chinese media sources are reporting that a Hello Kitty theme park might be built and opened in 2013 in Huzhou (about a 2 hour drive from Shanghai).

The theme park would be huge at 133 hectares (328 acres).  Disneyland Resort which includes the original Disneyland park, Disney’s California Adventures, Downtown Disney and their 3 company hotels is 200 hectares (500 acres).  Can you imagine how much cute stuff could be loaded into this park!!  The park will have 3D animation and other high-tech attractions plus a shopping area.

A ceremony to mark investment into the project was held on June 9th between Sanrio and Zhejiang Investment & Trade Symposium.  The investment is US $215 million. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly.
