Sanrio Digital has officially launched it’s massively multi-player online game (MMOG) Hello Kitty Online (HKO) in North America and Europe. Many of you may have already tried out the online game when it was made available a few months ago (you just had to submit yourself as a tester before they ran out of space). There is the regular free version and a collectible Premium Edition Retail version.
The Premium Edition is available at stores in the US and Canada. It comes in a specially designed pink and black box with:
- $15 in Sanrio Cash Points to equip your character with premium items
- Choice of one out of four exclusive and cute virtual pets to be your faithful companion on your adventures
- Hello Kitty Online game client on DVD
- Full-color Hello Kitty Online game manual (82 pages)
- Hello Kitty Online collector’s postcards to share with friends…or to keep!
The way the game works is you create a character (which you can customize) and then travel around a magical world starring Hello Kitty and other popular Sanrio characters like Keropi and My Melody. There are many different story lines and you can accept quests that allow you to play mini games. Everything is naturally cute, cute, cute!
Personally, I appreciate the game makers for allowing so many Kitty fans to try out their earlier versions of the game. As I recall they did 2 test runs to work out the kinks and make improvements. It’s truly a Hello Kitty fans game.
Thanks Racheal for sending me the press release!
Update (Aug 26/10): I just wanted to be upfront that I was offered the Premium Edition (just got confirmation 5 minutes ago that it’s happening!) but it in no way would it have changed me announcing this big news. I’ve been following the online game development for this for months and months. I also have some great news…the makers are sending me one copy to review and another to giveaway!! 🙂 So, Hello Kitty fans, as soon as I get them, I will do a post inviting you to try and win a copy.
